Pedestrian killed by hit-and-run driver near Green Lake Sunday night was Greenwood resident

KOMO 4 reports the female pedestrian killed by a hit-and-run driver at North 82nd Street and Wallingford Avenue North Sunday night was a resident of Greenwood House, a Low Income Housing Institute group home on 6th Avenue NW at NW 88th Street.

KOMO says Donelle “Nellie” Yelli had lived at the home for years and was considered the “mother hen” to other residents. You can see KOMO’s full story here.

According to Seattle Police, the driver left the scene in front of Bishop Blanchett High School but returned a short time later, and was arrested on Investigation of Vehicular Homicide.

KIRO 7 reports the driver was charged on Monday with Vehicular Homicide, Hit and Run, and Driving Under the Influence. Her bail was set at $200,000. You can see KIRO’s full report here.
