Hundreds of Greenwood neighbors came together Friday night to celebrate each other, exactly six months after a devastating natural gas explosion destroyed three businesses and damaged another 50.
The Phoenix Party, in the empty lot between 84th and 85th streets where Mr. Gyros, Neptune Coffee and Greenwood Quick Stop used to be, featured Mr. Gyros’ food truck – with a very long line of neighbors hungry for their gyro fix.
Three artists from Crowd Control created art on plywood boards.
Seattle Police officers Lt. Greg Sackman and Sgt. Dianne Newsom of the North Precinct talked with people about crime concerns, while DJ Nicfit spun music in the background. New local radio station KBFG interviewed folks and reported on the event.
