Luso Food & Wine officially opens at 8218 Greenwood Ave. N. at 7 p.m. Friday with Brazilian music by vocalist Adriana Giordano and guitarist Brian Monroney. Luso specializes in Portuguese food and wine.
Monthly Art Up PhinneyWood Artwalk at dozens of neighborhood galleries and businesses from 6-9 p.m. Friday, including: Teacher and artist Victoria Kemery will showcase her clay, canvas and recycled materials artwork at Abrams Chiropractic, 7815 Greenwood Ave. N.; Bill’s on Greenwood, 8560 Greenwood Ave. N., features the landscape and architecture photography of Amy Davies; Frock Boutique, 6500 Phinney Ave. N., features Caitlin Dundon’s mixed media collages featuring hearts, birds, trees, flowers and her own interpretations of the Seattle skyline.
Couth Buzzard Books presents Pacific NW Folklore Society concerts with Pinniped at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Stew’s Folk Music Corner at 12 p.m. Saturday; Little Sara and the Night Owls at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
Woodland Park Zoo will have special Valentine treats for the animals on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Saturday is Neighbor Appreciation Day with activities throughout the city, including an open house at Fire Station 21, 7304 Greenwood Ave. N., from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.; Meet Your Neighbors for Coffee and Cinnamon Rolls from 1-4 p.m. at Woodland Park United Methodist Church, 302 N. 78th St.; Donuts and Coffee Cleanup on 3rd Ave NW at North 140th Street in Broadview from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.; and a Broadview Neighbor Party from 1-4 p.m. at 720 N. 143rd St. in the Community Meeting Room.
Chekhov is My Valentine at the Pocket Theater, 8312 Greenwood Ave. N., at 1 p.m. Sunday.
(Stand-Up Style) Valentine’s Day Comedy Show at 7 p.m. Sunday at Naked City Brewery, 8564 Greenwood Ave. N.
PhinneyWood resident Angela Taylor Hylland is hosting a book launch party for her first children’s picture book, “The Denim Jungle,” from 12-2 p.m. Saturday at Ballard Homestead, 6541 Jones Ave. NW.
The Love ‘em or Leave ‘em 5K Run is Sunday morning around Green Lake, so traffic and parking will be tough, and Metro will reroute the 26 and 48 buses off of East Green Lake Drive North between 1st Avenue NE and Wallingford Avenue North.
