The second Early Design Guidance meeting for the development at 9701 Aurora Ave. N. is scheduled for 8 6:30 p.m. (please note the time change) on Monday, Jan 4., 2016, at the Ballard Community Center, 6020 28th Ave. NW, in the Sunset/Captain Ballard Room, which is ADA compliant. (If you need a translator or interpreter, contact the Public Resource Center at [email protected] or 206-684-8467 at least five business days prior to the meeting).
The project will replace the Gold’s Gym building with a six-story self-storage warehouse, with a caretaker’s unit. It will take up the entire block of the west side of Aurora Avenue between 97th and 98th streets, and have surface parking for 17 vehicles.
DPD Planner Carly Guillory confirmed with me today that the Gold’s Gym building will be demolished. She said some people commented at the first Early Design Guidance meeting on Sept. 28 that they wanted the building to stay, however, the developer’s proposal is to tear it down.
The developer’s preliminary design proposal is not on DPD’s website yet, but Guillory said it will be posted 10 days before the Jan. 4 meeting. Click here, then enter project number 3020310 to see all meetings and documents related to this project.
Also at the Jan. 4 meeting, starting at 6:30 p.m., the NW Design Review Board will have the second Early Design Guidance meeting for another project, at 13524 Linden Ave. N. It is currently an empty lot. That proposal is for a 6-story building with 100 assisted living units, and below-grade parking for 43 vehicles.
