The Seattle Times reports that Byron White, who was a senior at Ballard High School when he murdered David L. Peterson in the parking lot of Mud Bay in Greenwood and stole his cell phone, was sentenced to 28.6 years in prison this morning.

White was 17 at the time, but charged as an adult under a state law that allows adult prosecution of 16- and 17-year-olds charged with certain violent offenses. White pleaded guilty last month.
