Greenwood resident trains for canoe trip by carrying canoe around neighborhood

Bastyr University has an interesting story about Greenwood resident Trevor Clark, who is training for a 631-mile solo canoe journey down the Alabama Scenic River Trail by walking around the neighborhood carrying his canoe and a heavy backpack.

Clark was seriously injured in a car accident in 2003 and later discovered special herbs to relieve his constant pain. He then earned a bachelor’s degree from Bastyr University’s Herbal Sciences program, and is now a researcher at Bastyr University Research Institute and working on his Ph.D in pharmacognosy.
