News roundup: Aggressive solicitor, Metro long-range planning, elder services survey, local B & B in Wheel of Fortune prize package

Here’s a roundup of various neighborhood news:

Shirley tells us she encountered an extremely aggressive solicitor whose pitch seemed suspicious last week near 67th Street and Palatine Avenue.

He claimed to be collecting money for the AFL-CIO to promote a laundry list of issues he had on his tablet (iPad). Even after I clearly declined to give him the cash he wanted several times, he actually followed me to my car and was still talking when I closed and locked my door. I’ve never heard of AFL-CIO representatives going door to door asking for cash!

Metro Transit is working on long-range planning for transportation services. It’s asking people to take an online survey to assess current service and what you think will be needed in the future. Metro also is looking for people to serve on the Community Advisory Group to work on that planning effort.

9 Cranes Inn, a bed and breakfast in Phinney Ridge, will be featured as part of a Seattle Getaway prize package on Wheel of Fortune on Wednesday’s show. The prize package features six nights at 9 Cranes Inn, plus dinner at Ray’s Boathouse, Theo Chocolate tour and more.

Aging & Disability Services — the Area Agency on Aging for Seattle-King County, is asking for community input on how to become more elder-friendly. You can take an online survey to help the agency with its service goals.
