Reminder: North 80th closed between Fremont and Dayton avenues for paving work March 3-14, North 105th paving moves east

by | Mar 2, 2014

Here’s a reminder that Seattle Department of Transportation crews will close North 80th Street from Fremont to Dayton avenues beginning Monday, March 3, to replace about 40 concrete roadway panels. The work is expected to be completed on Friday, March 14.
That stretch of 80th will be closed to all traffic during the day, leaving one westbound lane open at night from 6 p.m. until 8:30 a.m. each morning. Sidewalks will remain open. Traffic will be detoured to North 85th Street between Greenwood and Aurora avenues.
And a heads up that the paving project on North 105th Street to Northgate is shifting east to between Aurora Avenue North and Meridian Avenue North on Monday, weather permitting (that shift was delayed because of weather).

During the week when the move occurs, all of the lanes on 105th from Greenwood Avenue North to Aurora Avenue North will be reopened to traffic. The contractor will then move to the segment of 105th and of North Northgate Way between Aurora Avenue North and Meridian Avenue North, and the eastbound travel lanes between Aurora and Meridian will be closed. Westbound traffic in this segment will be reduced to a single lane. This closure and lane reduction is expected to remain in place through July.
Detours after the shift:

  • General purpose traffic will be detoured either north on Aurora to North 115th Street or south on Aurora to North 85th Street.
  • Truck traffic will be detoured either north on Aurora to North 145th Street or south on Aurora to North 85th Street.
  • General purpose traffic heading to North Seattle Community College, Northgate Shopping Center, or other destinations in the area may also detour south on Aurora to North 90th Street, then east to Wallingford Avenue North, then turn north on Wallingford to North 92nd Street, east on 92nd, and north again along College Way North/Meridian Avenue North.
