Update Aug. 18: Project Engineer Patrick Barnum tells us that large rectangle in the middle is indeed a storm water vault.
Earlier: PhinneyWood reader and photographer John Marzulli sent us this amazing photo he took of Fred Meyer from the air. This gives you a much better sense of the scale of construction. The intersection of 3rd Avenue NW and NW 87th Street is at the top middle of the photo.
