Seattle Department of Transportation will close the intersection of North 85th Street and Aurora Avenue North from 10 p.m. Friday through 6 a.m. Monday, as part of the massive repaving project of 85th Street from Ballard to I-5.
All lanes of Aurora Avenue will be closed during that time; those lane closures will begin at 8 p.m. Friday. One westbound lane of North 85th Street will remain open. But, obviously, traffic will be terrible, so avoid that area if at all possible. Detour routes will be posted.
Southbound traffic on Aurora will be detoured at North 105th Street/Holman Road NW, and northbound traffic will be detoured at Green Lake Way North/North 50th Street.
Local access to residences and businesses will be provided. Crews will be working around the clock, so expect noise at all hours.
Coming up next week, SDOT crews will be grinding off the asphalt in the center lanes of North 85th Street between Greenwood Avenue and Aurora Avenue, in preparation for repairs and final asphalt paving. Eastbound lanes of North 85th Street between Greenwood and Aurora remain closed; follow the detour signs.
Remember that all businesses remain open, even if their driveways are hard to access.
