It’s a busy weekend at Empty Sea Studios, 6300 Phinney Ave. N. On Friday, local folk-fusion group Alchymeia performs. Tickets are $10 in advance, $14 at the door. Saturday night, singer-songwriters Jonathan Byrd and Chris Kokesh, also known as the Barn Birds, perform Americana music. (This concert is also viewable online through Empty Sea Television.) Tickets are $18 in advance, $22 at the door. On Sunday night, Empty Sea hosts Nell Robinson & Jim Nunally, performing Appalachian harmonies. Tickets are $14 in advance, $18 at the door.
Poet and guitarist Jim Page performs at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Couth Buzzard Books Espresso Buono Cafe, 8310 Greenwood Ave. N. Poetry Cabaret with Ronin 3 Jazz starts at 7:30 p.m. Saturday. Both events are free; food and drink available for purchase.
“Freud’s Last Session” continues at Taproot Theatre, 204 N. 85th St., through April 28.
For Earth Day, you can help out during a work party at the Greenwood Senior Center’s garden from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. Or help clean up Carkeek Park and learn more about Piper’s Creek Watershed, from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday, at 950 NW Carkeek Park Rd.
Seattle Folklore Society presents Canadian folk singer James Keelaghan in concert from 7:30-10 p.m. Saturday at the Phinney Neighborhood Association, 6532 Phinney Ave. N., in the Brick Building. Traditional Quebecois musical trio Genticorum performs an SFS concert from 7-9:30 p.m. Sunday at the PNA. Cost for either show is $16 general, $14 for SFS and PNA members and seniors, $8 for children. Reserve tickets online, or by calling 206-528-8523.
418 Public House is celebrating its first anniversary on Saturday with drink specials, free food and a DJ, beginning at 8 p.m., at 418 NW 65th St.
“Fill the Van” for Greenwood Food Bank at Greenwood Christian Church, from 12-3 p.m. Sunday, 8018 Fremont Ave. N.
And coming up next week, the Greenwood Senior Center is hosting an antiques appraisal event on Wednesday. Item drop-off begins at 11:30 a.m., the appraisal show begins at 1 p.m. Cost is $3 for one item, $5 for two to three items (three items maximum). Brown Tag Estates will appraise items.
