We just received some updated information from Seattle Department of Transportation about the repaving project on Greenwood Avenue North. Here’s the schedule for the reconstruction of the intersection of Greenwood Avenue North and North 80th Street.
Week of October 17
Please note: all work is weather dependent and may be rescheduled in the case of rain.
- Monday-Wednesday (October 17-19): crews will begin installing signage around the work area, including advance warning signs for weekend closures and no parking signs near the intersection. Tree protection will be also installed around tree pits in this vicinity.
- Wednesday and Thursday nights (October 19-20): Seattle Public Utilities (SPU) will relocate a water main valve at the intersection. This work will be completed nights from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. SPU will notify their customers in advance if water service will be impacted by this work. Questions for SPU? Call (206) 684-3000.
- Thursday and Friday (October 20-21): crews will begin sawcutting the existing concrete pavement in preparation for removal of the roadway.
- Friday 6 p.m. (October 21): intersection closes to all traffic.
- Friday at 6 p.m. to Monday at 5 a.m. (October 21-24): crews will work around the clock to rebuild the south half of the intersection. Noisy work activities will be restricted between the hours of 10 p.m. and 8 a.m. on weekends.
- Monday 5 a.m. (October 24): intersection reopens to all traffic.
Traffic information
During weekend closures:
- Vehicles will be detoured via N 65th St, 3rd Ave NW and N 85th St.
- Barricades will be set up on Greenwood Ave N at N 65th St and N 85th St, and on N 80th St between Linden Ave N and 1st Ave NW creating a Local Access area near the work zone.
- Access to residences and businesses will be maintained at all times.

- Bicycles will also need to use alternate routes during the weekend closures: Fremont Ave N and 8th Ave NW are good north/south alternatives for bicycles in this area.
