There’s no shortage of fun things to do around the neighborhood this weekend. Here’s hoping the weather stays nice.
The Phinney Farmers Market is from 3-7 p.m. Friday in the upper parking lot of the Phinney Neighborhood Center, 6532 Phinney Ave. N. Fresh veggies, fruits, flowers, meat, cheese, bread, ice cream, pizza, tamales, chocolates and lots more.
Local environmental group CoolMom is collecting old children’s car seats for recycling from 4-7 p.m. at the market tonight. There’s a $10 recycling fee, but you’ll get a $10 coupon for Childish Things on Holman Road. Your car seat should be recycled if: it has been in an accident; is six years old or more; has had its straps washed or bleached. CoolMom folks also will be giving an applesauce canning demonstration at the farmer’s market.
Christ the King school on Dayton Avenue North and North 117th Street is hosting the Bite of Broadview from 6-10 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Carnival rides, food booths, craft booths, a kids area, rummage sale, a live music.
The Friends of Piper’s Orchard is hosting the 5th annual Festival of Fruit, from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the Carkeek Park Environmental Learning Center. Guest speakers, cider pressing, an apple pie contest, music, kids crafts, information booths, and Tillie’s Cafe selling pie and cider.
Eddie McGehee performs Songs & Stories of Hard Times at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Couth Buzzard Books Espresso Buono Café, 8310 Greenwood Ave. N. And Pint & Dale sing Songs of the Blue Divide at 7:30 p.m. Saturday. Both a free; beer, wine and snacks available for purchase.
Charlie Loesel performs at 8 p.m. Friday at Empty Sea Studios, 6300 Phinney Ave. N. And David Jacobs-Strain performs at 8 p.m. Saturday. Cost for each concert is $14 in advance, $18 at the door.
Sakya Monastery, 108 NW 83rd St., invites neighbors to tea and a tour of the monastery from 2-4 p.m. Saturday.
Sugarcomb Salon, 780 N. 73rd St., is hosting a fashion show and fundraiser for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society at 6 p.m. Saturday.
Professor Banjo and friends present a Multi-generations Oldtime Showcase at 7 p.m. Sunday at the Phinney Neighborhood Center, 6532 Phinney Ave. N.
