Live music, improv and a carnival in Phinney-Greenwood this weekend

It’s a big weekend of live music, improv and carnival fun in Phinney Ridge and Greenwood. Here are a few highlights. Check out our Events calendar any time for more.
The Phinney Farmers Market is from 3-7 p.m. Friday in the upper parking lot of the Phinney Neighborhood Association, 6532 Phinney Ave. N.
GAIN (Greenwood Aurora Involved Neighbors) is hosting a neighborhood cleanup from 10-11:30 a.m. on Saturday. Meet at the new Boardroom Cafe, 8314 Aurora Ave. N., for coffee and pastries first, then help cleanup along Aurora Avenue North from North 85th to North 80th streets, and surrounding blocks.
Couth Buzzard Books Espresso Buono Café, 8310 Greenwood Ave. N., presents Pickled Okra in concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday, and Singers/Songwriters Circle hosted by Scott Katz at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
Empty Sea Studios, 6300 Phinney Ave. N., presents Cahalen Morrison in concert at 8 p.m. Friday, and Beth Wood at 8 p.m. Saturday.
Ridge Romp children’s entertainment series presents Ballard musician Johnny Bregar at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the brick building at the Phinney Neighborhood Association. Doors open at 10 am. Tickets are $3 per person at the door. Get there early; shows often sell out.
The Phinney Neighborhood Association celebrates its 30th anniversary this weekend with an evening of improv by Taproot Theatre’s touring company at 7 p.m. Saturday, and the Ridge Rumpus carnival from 12-4 p.m. Sunday in the upper parking lot. Improv tickets are $30 and include dessert and drinks. Ridge Rumpus is $10 per child (or $25 for a whole family of kids) for unlimited games and rides; adults are free.
And a little northeast of Greenwood, children can learn the sport of curling at Granite Curling Club’s Learn-to-Curl for Kids at 9:30 a.m. Sunday, at 1440 N. 128th St.
