Snow leopards are one of the world’s most endangered wild animals, but you can learn more about them and see them at Woodland Park Zoo’s fifth annual Snow Leopard Day on Saturday, Aug. 13.
Co-hosted by the zoo and its conservation partner, the Snow Leopard Trust, zoo visitors can hear special zookeeper talks and see special enrichment programs for the snow leopards, hear conservation talks by Snow Leopard Trust, make snow leopard-inspired crafts, and take part in themed programs for kids in Zoomazium.

Snow Leopard Day activities are free with zoo admission, and take place from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. near the zoo’s snow leopard exhibit, activity booths at the nearby Butterfly Forest and puppet shows and programs at Zoomazium.
Last month, this endangered species made international news with the discovery of a healthy population of snow leopards in Afghanistan and a follow-up article on the groundbreaking research taking place in Mongolia with support from Snow Leopard Trust, Panthera, Woodland Park Zoo, and others. Camera traps that were tested at Woodland Park Zoo are providing new insights into the behavior of the elusive snow leopard and helping conservationists develop new programs to ensure the survival of these endangered cats.
