Starting Saturday, Metro Transit is making some changes to bus routes that serve Phinney Ridge and Greenwood.
Route 5 along Greenwood Avenue North is getting added service, including two new trips on weekdays from downtown to North 105th Street, and new trips to the Northgate Transit Center. That will improve service to every 15 minutes until about 8 p.m.
Route 28 will lose some service. On weekdays, the southbound express trip to downtown Seattle from Aurora Avenue North and North 143rd Street at 5:34 a.m. will be discontinued. Also discontinued are all shuttle trips between Aurora Avenue North and North 143rd Street and between Fremont Avenue North and North 34th Street.
Metro updates its routes and scheduling three times a year to improve service and keep up with the changing needs of transit customers. Bus riders can find all the fall changes detailed in the Special Rider Alert brochure, which will soon be in Metro information racks and has been posted online. New orange timetables will soon be available on buses and in Metro displays. The information is also in the online Trip Planner at www.kingcounty.gov/tripplanner. Enter a travel date of Oct. 2 or later to find the updated service.
