Greenwood Elementary spring fundraiser needs donations

by | Mar 10, 2010

This is Greenwood Elementary School’s 100th year celebration, so they’re pulling out all the stops for a fabulous gala Spring Fundraiser on April 10. The event committee is looking for donations from neighborhood businesses and neighbors.
The theme this year is “Growing Futures from the Seeds of our Present and Past.”

Our school has a rich history of quality, community-based education. Our principal and our teachers are exceptional and are able to connect individually with each student in our population of approximately 345 students. We strive to make every family part of a true school community.
Fundraising is an important part of every public school and Greenwood is no exception. There continues to be a major lack of funds available from Federal sources and the Seattle School District. With nearly 50% of Greenwood Elementary’s student population receiving free and/or reduced lunch, the support of our community is crucial to our success.
Funds raised immediately impact the lives of kids right here in your community. We fund many important and crucial programs such as art and music instruction, which includes visual art, instrumental music and music & movement that benefits the entire school. We pay for assemblies, field trips, teacher grants and allowances, library support & PE equipment as well as family support services for those families in need. Our budget is lean and consists of necessary expenses to cultivate and enrich the educational experience of every child at Greenwood.

Gift cards of $25 or more are especially popular. Contact Stacie Van den Dyssel for a procurement form or to arrange for pick-up of your donated item: 206-856-3553 or [email protected]. Or you can mail your item by March 15 to Greenwood Elementary, 144 NW 80th St., Seattle, WA 98117.
