Safety first for neighborhood children

by | Aug 18, 2009

We’ve noticed a proliferation of different kinds of pedestrian/driver safety signs around the neighborhood lately. These signs urge drivers to slow down on NW 73rd Street:

You can see four of them on this corner at NW 73rd St. and 1st Ave. NW. After we took the photo below, another four of the signs popped up along the next block, for a total of eight.

This cute sign is on N. 78th St.

And a Greenwood business has created these yellow pedestrian flags, featuring Sam the Chicken, who helps you safely cross the road. Locally, the Safer Crossings flags are available at Metropolis (we bought one for the PhinneyWood kid and he loves having his own flag!)
