The snow in Seattle and our own neighborhod is making national news. The ever-helpful Marty Spiegel of Greenwood True Value Hardware was even quoted in the New York Times:
“Nobody’s panicking,” said Marty Spiegel of Greenwood True Value Hardware. “Though there was some disappointment that we sold out of sleds.”

We admit to popping into the hardware store on Friday on the off chance they had a sled left. We left empty-handed when we overheard Marty patiently explaining to probably the hundredth caller that they were out of sleds but he would happily sell them a plastic garbage can lid to use in a pinch.

And a reminder from Seattle Parks and Recreation that today’s School Age Care Winter Break Camp at all community centers is closed. A child care hotline – 206-684-7123 – is available for additional updates on Winter Break Camp operation.
Regularly scheduled programming at community centers and pools has been canceled, but they are open for drop-in use. Public golf courses, including Jackson Park, Interbay, West Seattle and Jefferson Park, are closed for golf, but are open for sledding. And while there may be some ice on Green Lake, it will not bear weight, so DON’T WALK ON IT!
