Woodland Park Zoo’s annual Pumpkin Bash is this weekend, but zookeepers are getting a head start by tossing a bunch of gourds into the hippos’ enclosure on Thursday at 10 a.m. That one’s really a photo op for local media to promote Saturday and Sunday’s event (10 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. both days), but since it’s also during regular zoo hours, visitors can enjoy the scene as well.
Pumpkin Bash is an enrichment program for all the zoo’s animals, to provide mental and social stimulation, according to the zoo’s press release. Check out the zoo’s Pumpkin Bash web page for a full list of which animals get pumpkins and when.
