Zoo goes geothermal at penguin exhibit

They’re drilling geothermal tubes this week as part of the construction project for the new penguin exhibit at the Woodland Park Zoo.

The 17,000-square-foot exhibit will mimic the Humbolt penguins’ coastal habitat. The geothermal tubes will help heat and cool the pool, saving energy. Some homeownersare considering the same thing. Hmmm, maybe these penguins are on to something…
