Car careens off hill, narrowly misses house

by | Jun 16, 2008

Just before noon today, an accident on Market St. near 3rd. Ave. sent a car smashing through a fence and down a steep hill, narrowly missing a house on NW 54th St. We came upon the scene moments after it happened.

You can see onlookers peering down through the hole in the fence above the car. Both drivers were uninjured in the accident. The teenager driving this car was shaken up, but OK. Witnesses say he was headed up Market St. when he collided with another car, hit the guardrail and went off the hill.

It was a 50 to 75 foot drop.

It’s amazing he didn’t hit the house below. His northbound momentum carried the car through the backyard and onto the sidewalk.

Neighbors gathered at the hole in the fence and snapped photos.
