The late Ruby Smith’s photos on exhibit at Seattle Art Museum

by | Aug 1, 2012

Photos taken by Ruby Smith, the late 18-year-old daughter of Couth Buzzard Books’ co-owner Theo Dzielak, are now on display at Seattle Art Museum, as part of its education program. Smith began taking photos to chronicle her journey with Burkitt’s Lymphoma.

Her photos, titled “The Hidden Shadows of Cancer,” went on display at Couth Buzzard after she died. She turned 18 on May 23, and died one week later.

Dzielak says SAM is hosting a catered reception for the exhibit from 5-6:30 p.m. Thursday. Ruby’s 29 photos will be on display at SAM through August.
