PNA Beer Taste Saturday celebrates ‘Summer of Beer’

July 17th, 2017 by Doree

Phinney Neighborhood Association’s annual Summer Beer Taste is from 4-7 p.m. this Saturday. The “Summer of Beer” theme harkens back to the Summer of Love 50 years ago, so tie-dye and flower power attire is recommended. This event is for ages 21 and over only.

PNA members pay $25, non-members pay $30, and designated drivers pay $10. For that you’ll get 10 tastes from among more than 30 local microbreweries and cideries (or all the soda and water you can drink, if you’re a designated driver), plus brat bites from Barking Dog Alehouse and other pub snacks.

You can buy tickets online, plus see a list of all participating breweries.

PNA Beer Taste winners announced

November 17th, 2010 by Dale

The folks at the Phinney Neighborhood Association just beamed down the results from this past weekend’s sold out Star Trek-themed “Beer Trek” beer taste and here they are:

  1. Homebrewer  — Reuben’s Brews Roasted Rye PA
  2. Cask Conditioned Jive Espresso Stout from Two Beers Brewing Co.
  3. Big Woodrow Imperial Milk Stout from Harmon Brewing Co.

Sorry to say I didn’t get to sample the first and third place winners, but our beer “away team” did agree the Two Beers offering was quite tasty.

What beers were your favorites?

Beer Trek beaming down at PNA

October 23rd, 2010 by Dale

The theme for the Phinney Neighborhood Association’s upcoming beer taste has taken on otherworldly dimensions with Beer Trek, which promises “to seek out new beers and to boldly go where no beer has gone before!”

Beer as the final frontier. Fascinating.

The fundraising event for the PNA happens 7-10 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 13, at the Phinney Neigbhorhood Center, 6532 Phinney Ave. N.

Twenty-eight Northwest microbreweries will have samples of their winter ales and other favorite beers. No word on whether Aldeberan Whiskey and Saurian Brandy will also be served. Tickets are $25 for PNA members, $30 for the general public and $10 for designated drivers.

While there is no promise that you’ll “live long and prosper” if you attend, you will receive ten beer tastes, music by the Shed Boys, pub snacks and a silent auction of beer paraphernalia. Tickets can be purchased online, or at the Phinney Neighborhood Center. Be sure to check out the picture of the crew on the PNA’s beer taste page.

Participating breweries include Anacortes, Baron, Bayern, Big Al, Boundary Bay, Chuckanut, Deschutes, Diamond Knot, Elysian, Epic, Fish, Fremont, Georgetown, Golden Hills, Hale’s, Harmon, Maritime Pacific, Naked City, Ninkasi, Odin, Pike, Port Townsend, Schooner Exact, Scuttlebutt, Sierra Nevada, Silver City, Two Beers, and two home brewers.

Giddyup to the PNA Summer Beer Roundup

July 3rd, 2010 by Dale

The Phinney Neighborhood Association will corral a thirsty crowd into the lower parking lot for their 5th annual Summer Beer Roundup Saturday, July 10, from 4-7:30 p.m.

Organizers have rounded up 20+ area brewing companies (and one home brewer), including Naked City and Baron Brewing (Pillager’s Pub), which have locations in Greenwood, as well as other local favorites including Big Al, Elysian, Fish, Fremont, Hale’s, GeorgetownMaritime Pacific, Pike, Schooner Exact and Two Beers.

A ticket to the event – $25 for PNA members, $30 for non-members – entitles you to 10 beer/hard cider tastes. Tickets can be purchased online.

Here’s the scene at last summer’s beer taste, where it was plenty warm, unlike the “Julember” weather we’re experiencing now.

In case you’re wondering, the long range forecast calls for sunny and 70s next Saturday.

Winter Beer Taste this Saturday

November 10th, 2009 by Dale

One of the Phinney Neighborhood Association’s more highly anticipated social events of the year, the 22nd Annual Winter Beer Taste, is this Saturday from 7-10 p.m.

There’ll be 28 northwest micro-breweries in attendance and many will be pouring their new winter beers. You get up to 10 tastes, so choose wisely.

Tickets are $25 for PNA members, $30 for the general public. The designated driver option is $10. Tickets can be purchased at the PNA or ordered online (there is a small service fee for the convenience). The ticket price includes the 10 tastes, pub style snacks, a silent auction of beer-related items and live music.

(Tip for first-timers: While there are snacks, eat ahead of time – those winter beers can be potent.)

Meant to get to this sooner, but with all the craziness in the neighborhood, we’ve neglected writing about this event. Don’t know about you, but we’re certainly looking forward to being there.
