Join Seattle Folklore Society for a night of crazy-good picking and harmonies from True North.
Americana quartet True North is emerging as a Pacific Northwest powerhouse of intelligent, memorable songs and lush instrumental and vocal performances deeply-rooted in traditional folk and bluegrass genres. Fronted by award-winning singer-songwriters Kristen Grainger and Dan Wetzel, True North also features Martin Stevens and Josh Adkins.
Grainger has made an impressive name for herself in the field of songcraft, collecting accolades and awards at IMEA, Telluride, Merlefest, and Kerrville. The band’s 2014 CD, “Elsebound,” spent 25 weeks in the Roots Music Report top-ten and was the #7 folk album that year. Their latest release is “Open Road, Broken Heart.” Onstage, True North exemplifies the most compelling aspects of live acoustic roots music: storied songwriting; mad instrumental skill; and vocals that alternately bring you to tears or raise ecstatic hairs on the back of your neck.
