Call for Co-Teacher: “Write YOUR Story” Youth Writing Workshop

by | Jan 7, 2026

A new creative learning opportunity is coming to the PhinneyWood–Green Lake area in spring 2026, and organizers are currently seeking a community member to help make it happen.

Write YOUR Story is a free writing workshop for children ages 7–12, founded and led by Julia Viglione, PhD. The program will run weekly from February through May 2026 at Woodlawn Hall, near Green Lake, and is sponsored by Fremont Abbey Arts.

To support the workshop, the program is seeking a co-teacher / intern to assist during weekly one-hour sessions held Sundays from 3:00–4:00 pm, for a total of 12 classes (no class on Easter Sunday). The co-teacher will work with a small group of up to 12 children, helping young writers build vocabulary, strengthen grammar and spelling skills, and develop the patience and confidence needed for both independent and collaborative creative work.

This role is well suited for someone with strong English writing and communication skills, along with patience and a genuine interest in working with young learners. While the position is unpaid, it offers meaningful hands-on experience supporting youth literacy and creative expression in a nonprofit, community-based setting.

Those interested in applying should submit a letter of interest by January 10, 2026 to [email protected]. Information for parents on enrolling children in the workshop will be shared later this winter.
