As the winter season begins to brighten, we’re excited to share a festive neighborhood event perfect for families, friends, and community members of all ages. Chanukah Village, hosted by Chabad of Northwest Seattle, is a joyful, free celebration of the Jewish Festival of Lights taking place at the Phinney Center.

The event will be held on Thursday, December 18th from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at 6532 Phinney Avenue It is free and open to everyone.

Chanukah Village offers a lively atmosphere with activities designed to bring people together. Guests can take part in a playful scavenger hunt, enjoy traditional holiday foods such as latkes and doughnuts, and explore several hands-on activity stations for children and adults. The celebration also features a special performance by Alex Zerbe, “The Zaniac,” a nationally recognized entertainer known for his blend of comedy, juggling, and high-energy stage presence. In addition, the first 25 people who register will receive complimentary Chanukah-themed items to take home. You can register here.

Chanukah, also known as Hanukkah, is an eight-day Jewish holiday commemorating a historical miracle in which a small amount of oil lasted eight days during the rededication of the Holy Temple. The holiday is marked by lighting candles on a menorah, singing songs, sharing traditional foods, and celebrating the triumph of light over darkness.

Events like Chanukah Village bring warmth and connection to the neighborhood, offering a welcoming opportunity to learn about traditions, meet fellow community members, and share in the joy of the season. Whether you observe the holiday or simply enjoy participating in local celebrations, this event is an uplifting way to brighten the winter days.

We hope the community will come together to experience this special evening and help make the Festival of Lights shine even brighter.
