There is a TON happening this weekend in PhinneyWood, with opening weekend of the Farmer’s Market, 14th annual Pride Rainbow Hop, inaugural Summer Arts Festival, and the unveiling of our Signal Box Project. As such, it has been hard to get the word out about some special aspects of each of these events, and we wanted to take a moment to highlight them now:

Drag Queen Story Time with Sylvia O’Stayformore – Saturday, June 7th at 10:30am and 12:30pm

Sylvia O‘Stayformore is a local celebrity in countless drag shows, brunches, fundraisers, benefits, cabarets, radio shows, movies, weddings, premiers, openings and plays. Sylvia is also the producer of Seattle’s Best Drag Show, Bacon Strip. They will be part of the Phinney Center’s Pride Party, and give two free readings for kiddos and adults alike on Saturday at the Phinney Center (6532 Phinney Ave N). Sponsored by New Moon Movement Arts and The Couth Buzzard, all are welcome to attend!

Outdoor Concert with Neon Brass Party Band & AGAB (Assigned Gay At Band)Saturday, June 7th from 1:30 – 2:30

A free afternoon outdoor concert to cap off the PhinneyWood Rainbow Hop and Phinney Center Pride Party! Come by the Phinney Center upper parking lot – just across the street from Red Mill and RidgeWood Bottle and Tap – for a closing celebration with room to dance. The Neon Brass Party Band believes in creating space in the world to celebrate our individuality together, and finds its groove in styles from Latin to funk and hip-hop. AGAB is “a queer joy rebellion playing brass bangers for the gays and theys of every generation.”

Soon-to-be legendary Original Artwork Auction – Opens Friday, June 6 and closes Sunday, June 8 at 5PM

Celebrate the launch of the project at our special weekend-long art auction, June 6–8 at the Phinney Center. Get a first look at the original, one-of-a-kind pieces that inspired the vinyl-wrapped signal boxes now appearing around the neighborhood. These artworks—created by local artists—will be on display and available to bid on in person and online. Don’t miss your chance to own a piece of this landmark public art project!
