Taproot Theatre presents a regional premiere of Murder on the Links, renowned playwright Steven Dietz’s theatrical adaptation of Agatha Christie’s iconic mystery. This murderously funny production runs July 9–August 9 in Taproot’s Jewell Mainstage Theatre at 204 N 85th St.
After receiving an urgent plea from a stranger, Hercule Poirot whisks himself to the French seaside only to arrive a day too late. Paul Renauld has been found dead, and the scene of the crime is a golf course. Poirot sets out to solve the murder, uncovering a web of deception, hidden identities, and old grudges.
Agatha Christie enthusiasts and mystery fans can enjoy the adventure of Steven Dietz’s highly theatrical storytelling. “Solving a murder mystery requires detectives to take a risk and commit to adventure. Performing live theatre requires actors to take a risk and commit to adventure,” said Producing Artistic Director Karen Lund. “In Steven Dietz’s Murder on the Links, all the risks are worth it, and the resulting adventure is just plain fun.”
The production stars Richard Nguyen Sloniker as Hercule Poirot and Nathan Brockett as Captain Hastings, reprising their roles from Taproot’s Black Coffee in 2022. Jeff Allen Pierce plays the role of Actor One, returning this season after Lewis & Tolkien, and Besty Mugavero makes her Taproot debut as Actor Two. Rounding out the cast are Tyler Todd Kimmel as Actor Three, who also returns after Black Coffee, and Claire Marx as Actor Four, who recently directed music for Always… Patsy Cline.
