Take 5 Urban Market re-opens after gas explosion

by | Apr 10, 2025

It’s a year of comebacks from gas explosions. Just a month after Mr. Gyro’s triumphant return to the neighborhood 9 years after a gas explosion incinerated their restaurant, Take 5 Urban Market at 6757 8th Ave NW has reopened almost one year after a natural gas explosion decimated their store and caused them to close.

A group of customers started a fundraiser after the explosion and raised nearly $50,000 to help the longtime owners rebuild. “Thank you to our incredible community who has offered endless support during this time, we cannot wait to reopen and see all your smiling faces again starting April 9th 2025,” the owners wrote on their website.

Take 5 is open daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
