The Greenwood Community Council (GCC) lost steam during the pandemic, and for the past year a group of volunteers has been trying to get it back on its feet, starting this past fall with meetings on Seattle’s proposal to rezone the city and upzone the area around Greenwood. That discussion will continue this Spring, and the GCC also plan to get back to regular meetings on a variety of topics related to land use, transportation, health and safety, and community building and engagement. Anyone interested in being a part of the Council is welcome to attend. Per an email sent out by the organization:
“At Tuesday’s meeting we will walk through a proposed organizational approach for the community council, and discuss what the council should be engaged in and how we can best serve the community and advocate for a better Greenwood. We will also provide a brief update on what we know about Seattle’s process to consider and adopt new zoning and how GCC should engage in that process. Later this Spring we will bring back proposed bylaws for adoption based on the result of Tuesday’s discussion and select a new board.
This is an important time for Greenwood to have a voice, and we hope you’ll join us to help decide how we should face the future.”
