Taproot Theatre announces 2025 Jewell Mainstage season

by | Aug 11, 2024

The Taproot Theatre Company is thrilled to announce its 2025 Jewell Mainstage Season, titled Timed Exposure, running March through October 2025 with an add-on performance in the Isaac Studio Theatre in January and February.

In 2025, the stories on Taproot’s Mainstage and Isaac Studio Theatre are all about revealing truths from the past to give us hope for the future. Lewis and Tolkien and Always… Patsy Cline show us the joys and mistakes of long-standing friendships. In Murder on the Links and The Importance of Being Earnest, deceptions unravel over time, and A Raisin in the Sun takes a thoughtful look at the American Dream through a historic lens. Timed Exposure is a collection of stories reminding us that history is never static, and everything is connected.

“Timed exposure photos have often captured my attention because they make the passage of time visible; bright lines streak across our lives connecting the place we are now to the places we’ve been before,” says Producing Artistic Director Karen Lund.

Taproot’s typical 5-Play Mainstage season runs through January through October, but thanks to a grant from the State of Washington for much-needed building improvements, the Jewell Mainstage Theatre will be under renovation in January and February. An add-on production in the Isaac Studio Theatre takes place during that time.

The 2025 Jewell Mainstage Season starts in March with A Raisin in the Sun by Lorraine Hansberry (March 19 – April 19, 2025).

Experience the power of an American classic. In this riveting drama, a life insurance payout provides a path for Lena Younger’s family to move from their cramped apartment to an affordable home in a historically white neighborhood. This 1959 masterpiece “changed American theater forever” (New York Times) and continues to inspire and resonate today.

Next on the Jewell Mainstage, is Always… Patsy Cline, created and originally directed by Ted Swindley, based on a true story, licensed by the family and estate of Patsy Cline. All rights reserved (May 14 – June 14, 2025).

Journey through the joy and heartbreak of Patsy Cline’s groundbreaking career through her unlikely friendship with her biggest fan. With unforgettable songs including “Walkin’ After Midnight,” “I Fall to Pieces,” and “Crazy,” you’ll experience the power of love, longing, and friendship. It’s time to kick off your boots and dance!

In the summer comes Murder on the Linksby Stephen Dietz, a regional premiere based on Agatha Christie’s gripping novel (July 9 – August 9, 2025).

After receiving an urgent plea from a stranger, Hercule Poirot whisks himself to the French seaside only to arrive a day too late. Paul Renauld has been found dead, the scene of the crime a golf course. Poirot sets out to solve the murder, uncovering a web of deception, hidden identities, and old grudges.

Closing out the season, Taproot stages Oscar Wilde’s classic, The Importance of Being Earnest(September 17 – October 18, 2025).

A play of love and snacks. Indulge in the delightful absurdity of Oscar Wilde’s comedic masterpiece! In this dazzling display of deception and desire, two charming bachelors bumble through a maze of mistaken identities and appetites. Sharp, smart, and satirical, Wilde called his most popular work “A trivial comedy for serious people.”
