Former Couth Buzzard owner has a new gig: photographer

by | Aug 27, 2024

As you may know, in May the Couth Buzzard saga has reached a happy ending (or beginning) of its 30+ years in the neighborhood. From suddenly announcing their permanent closure more than a year ago, to being temporarily saved by the community, to convening a steering committee and debating possible futures, the ultimate answer was to find new local ownership.

Founder Theo Dzielak officially handed over the reigns to his creation on June 1st to Tallis and Hilary Moore, longtime fans and open mic participants from the neighborhood. “I’m really happy we found these two,” said Theo. “They’re already a part of the community and they’ve been really great every step of the way.”

While the Moores have spruced up the space, menu, and décor, Theo is happily pursuing something he has been passionate about for years: photography. “Now that I am retired, I am able to work on my street photography. I’ve been walking the sidewalks and alleyways of our neighborhoods for the past six years, capturing images.”

Theo just just created his first set of neighborhood-based greeting cards, and another is on the way. They are professionally printed and on sale, naturally, at The Couth Buzzard. Drop by and check them out! Theo has more than 30 different prints and you can also order directly from him at [email protected].
