It’s back: The BIG One Art Walk returning this month

by | Sep 6, 2022

Come out for art and eats in the neighborhood at the 26th BIG One Art Walk! Enjoy local art of all types: photography, sculpture, collage, oils, watercolors, prints, glass, metal and fiber art, ceramics, and mixed media. Mark your calendars for September 23 (6-9pm) and September 24 (12-5pm) at PhinneyWood businesses throughout the neighborhood.

Over the years, this popular event has turned into a neighborhood party with music and performances at participating businesses, in addition to artist showcases. In the spirit of the art walk theme “Art Up, Chow Down,” many restaurants and pubs offer music or menu specials.

Art walk maps and information on participating venues will be available here and at participating businesses the week before the event.

The PNA will host an art show with our friends at the Emerald City Art Collective in our Blue Building upstairs gallery during the PhinneyWood Art Walk. More details to come!

About the PhinneyWood Art Walk

The Art Up, Chow Down PhinneyWood Art Walk started in 1995 and was coordinated by the PhinneyWood Arts Council, an all-volunteer organization. In 2022, the PNA adopted the Art Walk to keep the tradition alive.

Pre-COVID, monthly art walks were held on the second Friday, with The BIG One happening yearly on a Friday evening and Saturday afternoon. Currently, the PNA is organizing The BIG One for fall 2022, with monthly walks to be determined.

Each original art poster for The BIG One has been created by award-winning graphic artist, Roybnne Raye of Modern Dog Design. Her posters have been exhibited internationally, are in the archives of major libraries, and are collected by museums worldwide.
