Petite Pierre Bakery debuts on Phinney Ridge

by | Aug 15, 2022

Though it may have escaped notice for pastry fans so focused on their morning croissants, Petite Pierre Bakery has expanded to a second location in the former home of Celine Patisserie. Celine’s original owners, Alexei and Daniella Bucos, made the hard decision early this year to move their family back to Italy. There was interim ownership over the past 6 months before Chefs Pierre Poulin and Joanna Chau took over in late September. You can read more about them and their journeys here.

Poulin and Chau took over Petit Pierre in Magnolia in December of 2020. It was already a neighborhood bakery but they were able to revamp, remodel and improve and expand on the pastries being offered and started a full lunch program as well.

Petite Pierre endeavors to “stick to the classics done properly with quality ingredients,” says Poulin. Then they are able to open it up to be able to work with new flavors and what’s in season. “Food is ever changing and we like to keep things new, vibrant and interesting.” They are a small family owned business that appreciates all the support and relationship that being a part of a community offers.

Community is what attracted them to Phinney Ridge. “It’s a growing neighborhood that is close to so many family friendly attractions that we see a great sense of community here that we love,” relays Poulin. “Covid actually allowed us to get to know our neighbors (in Magnolia) better since everyone started working from home and would come out in the morning before work and then also for breaks throughout the day. Covid showed everyone how important it was to support their local businesses in order to still have them around. We were blessed to be in such a great supporting community.”

Petit Pierre, which is one of the 25 participants in the upcoming Bite of PhinneyWood in September, has already begun improving on the pastries and offering more options. “We’ve already began to make some internal changes that will help in operations and products as soon as we take over. Soon after that we will begin to offer more lunch options, wine and handcrafted artisan chocolates in the future. Lots of exciting things to come!”
