The 2021 Phinneywood Holiday Gift Guide is live!

by | Dec 7, 2021

Supply chain shortages, shipping delays…we’ve heard the warnings. But, what if, this year, PhinneyWood neighbors set the intention to buy as many gifts as possible from our own local businesses? Avoid the stress and support our local community? A win for all! The 2021 Phinneywood Gift Guide list of wonderful hyperlocal gifts you can stroll to and purchase for friends and family this season.

It’s true; it is nice to sit at home, avoid the blusters, and pick up the presents off the porch.

But imagine—you are missing out on a friendly hello and a personal recommendation from a spirited staff member at Snapdoodle, a knowledgeable knitter at the Fiber Gallery, a graphics guru at Greenwood Pencil Box, or a boundless bibliophile at Phinney Books, just to name just a random few of our awesome small businesses.

These folks can help you pick out something unique and perfect for all of the different personalities on your list, and you can help them by supporting their business and our hyperlocal economy.

It is vital right now to support our local businesses in order to get them through this (very long!) pandemic. Every dollar counts when rent and payroll come due, and we have been doing a great job getting our beloved stores and merchants this far.

For every $100 you spend at a locally owned businesses, about $68 will stay in the community and support your neighbors, your friends, and what we consider to be the best business district in all of Seattle!

Not sure where to start? That’s where the Phinney Neighborhood Association’s Business Group can help you out. They have reached out to our local businesses to create a Holiday Gift Guide that can give you the nudge you may need!

Perhaps you remember last year’s inaugural online guide, with nearly 30 local locales sharing their three best ideas: Favorite Stocking Stuffer (generally under $25), Favorite Gift, and Most Unique Gift.

These categories proved fun and popular, so the guide will include featured items for these three again from the businesses that choose to participate. (Remember! Many of our local retailers, shops, restaurants, and service providers have so much more to offer, so get creative—or stop in and ask for suggestions!)

In addition to these excellent tangible gifts, remember our local restaurants, yoga studios, spas, and other highly-impacted businesses. While gift certificates might not normally be considered the most “thoughtful” gift, this year they are very thoughtful.
