Husband and wife team Ben and Megan Campbell announce opening of Ben’s Bread this fall on Phinney Ridge

Rising Star and award-winning baker Ben Campbell and his business partner and wife Megan Campbell have announced their first brick and mortar location will officially open in Seattle’s Phinney Ridge neighborhood this fall.

Ben’s Bread is a small, family-run community supported bakery (CSB) in Seattle, WA. Known for their naturally-leavened sourdough breads, they specialize in baked items, prepared in small batches from locally-grown and milled grains.

Ben’s Bread Co. will stay true to what Campbell does best, offering a selection of fresh baked breakfast, lunch, and grab and go items featuring local grains. Expect full loaves for sale and rotating daily specials, along with a breakfast menu that includes English muffins, doughnuts, biscuits, breakfast sandwiches, and toasts. Lunch will bring a variety of sandwiches, salads, grain bowls, and seasonal bread plates.

Ben’s Bread also plans to support the city’s burgeoning pop-up scene by offering dinner service pop-ups by local chefs, budding small businesses, and experimental concepts of their own. Expect weekend brunch hours and small baking class options to follow.

The 1,400sf space will be located in the new Shared Roof apartment building at 7009 Greenwood Ave N. and will offer indoor counter seating, covered outdoor seating in the courtyard, and eventually patio seating.

“We’re so excited to be bringing this vision to life after the last 6 years of pop ups,” said Megan Campbell, co-owner of Ben’s Bread. “The bakery is meant to continue our emphasis on supporting community and having everyone feel welcome and as though they are a part of our space. The layout allows foot traffic to see directly into the bakery, and customers are literally inside the bakery itself. We want our guests to see the ingredients that go into their food, know where it comes from, who grew it, who produced it, and feel like they have a real relationship to the product.”

An extensive drink program will provide hand-crafted espresso, single-origin drip, teas, sparkling waters, juices, cold brew, kombucha, and take away beer and wine.

The team will encourage pre-ordering of loaves of bread, English muffins, cookies, pastries, and prepared items via their website and Toast online. They plan to offer seasonal specials such as summertime picnic packs, holiday rolls and cookies, bagels, cinnamon rolls, refrigerated doughs, and more.

Giving back is a priority for them, and since starting their pop ups six years ago they have donated a portion of all proceeds to local non-profit organizations. Over the last several years Ben’s Bread has established itself as a much loved and successful community-focused bakery. To date they have supported numerous local nonprofit organizations giving more than $10,000 to of a variety of important causes. Ben’s Bread is also a regular supporter of Community Loaves.

There are a few final opportunities for fans to get their Ben’s Bread fix before the bakery is complete: A collaboration with Post Alley Pizza (French bread pizza pop-up!) will happen in late June, and the last official Ben Bread’s pop up will occur on Thursday July 29th. Follow along on Instagram for times and locations. Once open, regular hours will be Tuesday – Friday 8am – 3pm
