While we’ve seen fewer new listings come on the market in our neighborhood this February, as compared to last year, the overall number of homes that sold this month was actually higher. This despite the few snowy days that slowed down the market activity. Clearly, our real estate market is hotter than hot! And demand is so strong that even homes that had been sitting untouched for a while are now finding new, loving owners. Which,of course, is also reflected in the double-digit appreciation that we’re seeing in our neighborhood. Check out the entire March report here.
As we shift into the spring sale, we’re likely to see more homes that become available – a great relief for buyers. But with the huge demand still present, it’s hard to see how the competition and appreciation will come to any kind of normalcy (whatever that even means…) any time soon. Even the rise in interest rates does not seem to have slowed buyers’ appetite.
