Black History Month Celebration this Sunday at the Phinney Center

by | Feb 19, 2020

February is Black History Month! In 1976, President Gerald Ford recognized Black History Month during the celebration of the United States Bicentennial. He urged Americans to “seize the opportunity to honor the too-often neglected accomplishments of Black Americans in every area of endeavor throughout our history.”

This Sunday, we will celebrate and honor this annual observance in our community with the inaugural Black History Month Celebration in the PNA’s Brick Building Community Hall. All are welcome to this kid-friendly affair, which will feature keynote speaker Alicia Crank of the YMCA, performances by the Northside Step Team (pictured) and JHP Legacy African Dance, refreshments, and more.
