Greenwood Community Council June Meeting, Tuesday June 18

by | Jun 17, 2019

For this month’s meeting, the GCC asks “What are Greenwood’s Interests in the upcoming City Council Election?” The August primary election will narrow the city council races for Seattle’s seven city council districts. In district 5 (NE of Greenwood/85th), incumbent Debora Juarez faces 5 other candidates. In district 6 (the rest of Greenwood), 13 candidates are competing for Mike O’Brien’s empty seat.

This Tuesday’s community council meeting is a chance to discuss the issues Greenwood most cares about in the race. Additionally, there are two surveys the GCC has open for anyone to fill out. This one is to hear opinions about issues that are important to Seattle and Greenwood in the election. And this one is to learn what qualities you are looking for in candidates. Results will be discussed at Tuesday’s meeting, and more complete results will be distributed closer to the election forum in July.

The Greenwood Community Council is sponsoring an election forum on Saturday July 13 at the Taproot Theatre. District 5 candidates will face off at 10:30 am and District 6 candidates will start at 1:00 and the event will be moderated by Steve Scher. Tuesday’s conversation will help prioritize what questions to ask the candidates, and help you be an informed audience.
