Seattle Public Library is hosting a bunch of cool events and programs in our neighborhood. Check out a few highlights:
Greenwood’s Naked City Brewery is part of this year’s Booktoberfest – Seattle Public Library’s “celebration of books, beer and good cheer.” Booktoberfest includes book-friendly happy hours, librarian-hosted trivia nights, spooky story times in bars and libraries, karaoke and literary fortune telling. From 8-10 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 10, Naked City, 8564 Greenwood Ave. N., hosts Librarians’ Revenge Trivia Rounds, with prizes awarded to winning teams. The event is free and no registration is required, but you’ll need to pay for your own drinks. 21 and over. Check out the Booktoberfest webpage for a complete list of events and venues.
Seattle Public Library offers free after-school drop-in homework help for students at a number of library branches throughout the city, including the Greenwood and Broadview libraries, and the Bitter Lake Community Center. Volunteers can help in all academic subjects. Registration is not required. See the library’s Student Success webpage for a list of dates and times that homework help is available.
Students also can get online help 24 hours a day through the Ask a Librarian reference service.
The Greenwood Library presents Firefighter Story Time from 10:30-11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 26. Seattle Firefighters will read books on fire safety and display firefighting equipment and trucks. All story times are free; registration is not required.
