Here are some highlights of what’s happening in and around Phinney Ridge and Greenwood this weekend. Check our Events calendar any time for more.
County Councilmember Jeanne Kohl-Welles is meeting with constituents from 12-1:30 p.m. Friday at Ballard Coffee Works, 2060 NW Market St., for an informal discussion on council issues.
Phinney Farmers Market is from 3:30-7:30 p.m. Friday in the upper parking lot of the Phinney Neighborhood Association, 6532 Phinney Ave. N. Fresh fruit, veggies, bread, eggs, meat, honey, beer, wine, cider, flowers, kimchi and more, plus several dining options. It’s also Free PNA T-Shirt Day, if you join or renew your PNA membership at the farmers market booth (one shirt per individual membership, or two shirts per household membership).
It’s opening weekend for Taproot Theatre’s “Relativity,” on the mainstage at 204 N. 85th St. through Oct. 21.
In Taproot’s Isaac Studio, see “The Last 5 Years,” a re-imagining of the popular off-Broadway musical.
Couth Buzzard Books, 8310 Greenwood Ave. N., presents Jim Page & Orville Johnson in concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday; the New Night Owls Trio at 7:30 p.m. Saturday; and Open Jazz Jam with Kenny Mandell (all levels welcome) from 2-4:15 p.m. Sunday.
The Phinney Neighborhood Association is hosting a Fall Festival Weekend at the Farm at First Light Farm in Carnation from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. (It’s owned by long-time Greenwood residents.)
Children’s book release/Live reading/Free art lesson for kids from 12:30-1:30 p.m. Saturday at Naked City Brewery, 8564 Greenwood Ave. N.
Seattle Folkore Society presents John Whalen & Dale Russ at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Phinney Center, 6532 Phinney Ave. N., in the Brick Building.
Puget Sound Concert Opera presents Martha (or the Market at Richmond) by Flotow at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Music Center of the Northwest, 901 N. 96th St.
Luso Food and Wine, 8218 Greenwood Ave. N., presents Brazilian Jazz with Tambor E Cordas at 7 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 24.
Metro’s fall service changes begin Saturday, including some added trips in our neighborhood.
Traffic-wise around town this weekend:

  • Bite of Broadview at Christ the King Church, 405 N. 117th St., Friday through Sunday.
  • Fremont Oktoberfest is Friday through Sunday.
  • Coldplay concert at 7 p.m. Saturday at CenturyLink Field.
  • Orca Half Marathon is in West Seattle on Sunday.
  • Seattle Mariners play Cleveland at 7:30 p.m. Friday, 1:10 p.m. Saturday, and 1:10 p.m. Sunday.
  • The Downtown Seattle Transit Tunnel will be closed on Saturday and Sunday due to construction of the Convention Place Station, so all buses will operate via surface streets.
