Whittier Elementary looking for volunteers to help upgrade playground for school and community use

by | Aug 25, 2017

Whittier Elementary, at 1320 NW 75th St. in Ballard, is planning to upgrade its aging playground structure, and also add entry gates, picnic tables and more.

A steering committee is applying for a Seattle Department of Neighborhoods grant to fund the improvements, but they need volunteers to pledge a certain number of hours as a match. The committee is planning to apply for up to $100,000 in grant money, meaning they need $50,000 worth of volunteer hours.

The grant proposal is due by Sept. 25. If you’d like to volunteer in any capacity (planning committees or construction), please see the SignUp Genius.

You can email the steering committee at [email protected] with any questions or comments.
