Farmers Market, theater, art and beer in Phinney-Greenwood this weekend

Here are a few highlights of events happening in and near Greenwood and Phinney Ridge this weekend. Check our Events calendar for more.

NW District Coordinator Thomas Whittemore is holding “office hours” at the Green Bean Coffeehouse, 8525 Greenwood Ave. N. from 9-11 a.m. Friday for anyone who wants to stop by and chat about neighborhood issues.

Taproot Theatre continues its run of “Big Fish” through Aug. 13.

Couth Buzzard Books, 8310 Greenwood Ave. N., hosts Classical Guitar Cabaret — Robert Vierschilling, Stella Kosim, Jessica Papkoff and Mark Taylor from 7:30-9:30 p.m. Friday; The Whateverly Brothers at 7:30 p.m. Saturday; and Open Jazz Jam with Kenny Mandell from 2-4:15 p.m. Sunday.

The Gay Uncle presents “The Good Life” from 5-6 p.m. Saturday at The Pocket Theatre, 8312 Greenwood Ave. N. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. Advance tickets are $10; or $14 at the door.

The Phinney Farmers Market, from 3:30-7:30 p.m. Friday in the upper parking lot of the Phinney Neighborhood Center, 6532 Phinney Ave. N. Fresh fruit, veggies, bread, meat, eggs, flowers, cider and lots of dining options. Master Gardener Deb Quinones will answer gardening questions. Music from 4-6 p.m. by Whiskey Cove Players (old jazz, blues, Beatles); and by Phinney Ridge Orchestra and Phinney Ridge Youth Orchestra from 6-7 p.m. If you’re walking there from Greenwood, the Phinney Farmers Market Walking Group leaves the Greenwood Senior Center, 525 N. 85th St., at 3 p.m.

Phinney Center Gallery opening reception for The Northwest Collage Society’s Summer Show From 7-9 p.m. Friday, 6532 Phinney Ave. N. The collage show runs through Aug. 26.

PNA Beer Taste Olympics from 4-7 p.m. Saturday in the upper parking lot of the Phinney Center, 6532 Phinney Ave. N.

If you’re heading out of the neighborhood this weekend, be aware of impacts to traffic from:

  • Kenny Chesney Concert at 5 p.m. Friday at CenturyLink Field.
  • Seafair Triathlon and Expo: Expo starts at 12 p.m. Saturday at 12 p.m. in Seward Park; Seafair Triathlon and Kid’s Triathlon starts at 6:30 a.m. Sunday through 12 p.m. The cycle course goes along Lake Washington from Seward Park north to the I-90 bridge.
  • Alki Art Fair at Alki Beach Park from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday.
  • Chinatown Seafair Parade from 7-9 p.m. Sunday.
