Phinney Farmers Market opens, concerts, theater, Pride Rainbow Hop, comedy in Phinney Ridge and Greenwood this weekend

The Phinney Farmers Market opens for the season this Friday, from 3:30-7:30 p.m., at the Phinney Neighborhood Association, 6532 Phinney Ave. N., in the upper parking lot. (Note that the hours have shifted 30 minutes later.) Dozens of vendors will be selling fresh veggies, fruit, meat, bread, flowers, wine, beer, cider, and ready-to-eat foods for dinner. The band Squirrel Butter will be playing their old-time stomping music from 5-7 p.m.

Couth Buzzard Books, 8310 Greenwood Ave. N., is hosting Ashraf Hakim Return Concert Fundraiser at 7:30 p.m. Friday, and First Sundays Blues Open Jam from 6:30-9 p.m. Sunday.

Taproot Theatre’s production of “The Realization of Emily Linder” runs through June 11.

This Saturday is National Trails Day. Seattle Parks and Recreation has partnered with mobile app Totago, which helps people get outdoors without a vehicle. Check out the details for a special hike through Carkeek Park.

Seattle School Boardmember Scott Pinkham (District I) is hosting a community meeting from 4-5:30 p.m. Saturday at the Broadview Library, 12755 Greenwood Ave. N.

The fourth annual family-friendly Pride Rainbow Hop is from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday at a number of businesses on Greenwood Avenue between North 70th and 87th streets that will have special activities highlighting the value of diversity. Participating businesses will be marked with sandwich boards with rainbow windsocks. Download the map here. The event kicks off at 10:30 a.m. at the Greenwood Library, 8016 Greenwood Ave. N., with Drag Queen Story Time with Sparkle Leigh, who will read stories, lead dances and help kids make rainbow-themed bookmarks. The Not-Its! perform a free concert at 1 p.m. at Naked City, 8364 Greenwood Ave. N.

(Stand-Up Style) Comedy Showcase at 7 p.m. Sunday at Naked City Brewery, 8564 Greenwood Ave. N.

If you’re heading out of the neighborhood this weekend:

  • The Fremont 5K and Briefcase Relay starts at 6 p.m. Friday, meaning a lot of streets will be closed. Check the website for the course map.
  • The 23rd annual Ballard Criterium Bike Race starts at 2 p.m. Saturday. Shilshole Avenue NW and Ballard Avenue NW will be closed from NW Vernon Place to NW Dock Place from 1:30-9 p.m.
  • The international soccer tournament COPA America Centenario is at CenturyLink Field at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
  • Komen Puget Sound Race for the Cure is Sunday at the Seattle Center.
