Veterans Day is today: What’s closed

Veterans Day is today and is a federal holiday. All schools, banks and post offices are closed, along with all branches of the Seattle Public Library and many Seattle Parks and Recreation facilities.
Parks facilities that are closed:

  • Community centers
  • Teen life centers
  • Environmental learning centers
  • Indoor swimming pools
  • Green Lake Small Craft Center
  • Mount Baker Rowing and Sailing Center

All boat ramps will remain open, along with the Amy Yee Tennis Center and golf courses at Interbay, Jackson Park, Jefferson Park and West Seattle.
Woodland Park Zoo is offering free admission to all active, retired, and veteran U.S. military personnel and their spouses with valid service identification on Veterans Day. Also, up to four accompanying family members with valid ID will receive $5 off regular zoo admission on Veterans Day. The zoo’s winter hours are 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Evergreen-Washelli at 11111 Aurora Ave. N. is holding its 66th annual Veterans Day Service beginning at 10:30 a.m.
Metro will operate its Reduced Weekday and “When no UW” schedules today. A few routes will not operate at all, and some others will operate fewer trips than usual. Regular 1- and 2-zone off-peak fares apply; peak fares will not be charged. Most Metro and King County offices will be closed Wednesday, including Metro’s Customer Information, Lost and Found and pass sales offices.
