Phinney Farmers Market from 3-7 p.m. Friday in the upper parking lot of the Phinney Neighborhood Association, 6532 Phinney Ave. N. Fresh fruit, veggies, bread, chocolates, salmon, meat, flowers and several dinner options.
Beppa Studios’ fall sale is from 4-8 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at 7700 6th Ave. NW, with new New Beppa clothing, Sylvia Luppert jewelry, Barbara Osborn pine needle baskets, scarves, accessories, vintage buttons and kimonos.
Sketch Fest at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday at The Pocket Theater, 8312 Greenwood Ave.
Couth Buzzard Books, 8310 Greenwood Ave. N., has a busy weekend planned, with Classical Guitar Cabaret at 7:30 p.m. Friday; Kesselgarten & Klezmer Balabustas — Autumn Klezmer at 7:30 p.m. Saturday; and Open Jazz Jam with Kenny Mandell (all levels welcome) from 2-4:30 p.m. Sunday.
Carkeek Park celebrates the ninth annual Festival of Fruit from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday with free cider pressing and tasting, live music, an apple pie contest, activities for kids, and guided tours of the historic orchard. Everything happens at and around the Nancy Malmgren Environmental Center, 950 NW Carkeek Park Rd. (Please park below the learning center.)
Falling for Kri Kri, trunk show, floral demos and gin tasting from 12-5 p.m. Saturday at Terra Bella Flowers, 7321 Greenwood Ave. N.
Country and folk songwriter John Lily plays a Seattle Folklore Society concert at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the PNA, in the Brick Building. Tickets in advance are $16 general, $14 SFS/PNA members and seniors; kids half price (all are $2 more at the door).
A multi-faceted acoustic music performer and songwriter, Lilly is also recognized as an accomplished vocalist and song stylist. He accompanies himself on acoustic guitar and mandolin, playing original songs that sound as old as the hills and old songs like they were made yesterday.
The first Ballard Summer Parkways is from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday. Seven miles of streets throughout Ballard and into Phinney-Greenwood will be closed to cars and open to pedestrians, bikers and skaters. Organized activities and live music are scheduled for Loyal Heights Playfields, Salmon Bay Park, Ballard Corners Park, 14th Avenue Northwest Park Boulevard, Ballard Commons Park, Sunset Hill Park and the Sixth Avenue Pocket Park, plus folks are encouraged to have their own fun activities throughout. The 12th Annual Sustainable Ballard Festival is part of the festivities, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Ballard Commons Park, 5701 22nd Ave. NW. Many organizations, including Seattle Neighborhood Greenways, Seattle Parks and Recreation, and Cascade Bicycle Club will host activities and events. Nearby, the Fremont Oktoberfest is from 5 p.m. to midnight on Friday, 11 a.m. to midnight on Saturday and 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday on North 35th Street and North Canal Street between Phinney Avenue and 2nd Avenue NW. More than 16,000 people are expected through the weekend, so plan your driving and parking accordingly.
