Fulcrum Community Communications has received a permit for its new low-power FM radio station that will reach residents of Greenwood, Phinney Ridge, Ballard, Fremont, Wallingford, Green Lake, Queen Anne and Magnolia. The station will be at 107.3 FM, and hopes to also webcast.
The station’s antenna will be located on the Norse Home, at 5311 Phinney Ave. N.
Fulcrum has been waiting for about a year and a half for its FCC permit. According to a press release, it will now spend the next year building a studio and installing the antenna, finding broadcasters and DJs, and organizing fundraisers. Fulcrum anticipates an annual operating budget of about $25,000.
The station’s first volunteer meeting is at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 2, at Salmon Bay Park, 2001 NW Canoe Pl., in the northeast corner. (Bring your own lawn chair.)
You can get Fulcrum Radio updates on their Facebook page.
