Seattle ReCreative offers classes, workshops and summer camps

The 1-year-old non-profit Seattle ReCreative, at 8408 Greenwood Ave. N., has greatly expanded its art offerings with new classes for children and adults, workshops and upcoming summer camps. Seattle ReCreative focuses on environmental sustainability by using reusable materials donated by community members and businesses.

Topics include Introduction to Bookbinding, Family Woodworking, Puppetry and Family Play, to name a few. They also maintain a community workspace.
Founders Jenna Boitano and Emily Korson estimate that Seattle ReCreative has diverted 15 tons of material from the landfill so far, with the help of Ballard Reuse.
Two week-long summer camps, called Camp ReCreative, will combine experiential art making with exploring local urban ecosystems. Camps will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The first camp, July 20-24, is for ages 5-8 years old. The second camp, July 27-31, is for children ages 8-12. Each five-day session costs $250, which includes materials.
