by | Mar 20, 2015

Here are a few things happening in the neighborhood this weekend. Check our Events calendar any time for more.

The FELT-A-THON Live at The Pocket Theater, 8312 Greenwood Ave. N., 8:30 p.m. Saturday. Tickets are $10 online or $14 at the door.

The audience will get to experience the behind-the-scenes insanity first-hand as The FELT-A-THON cast and crew shoot a video inspired by Amanda Rae’s “Project Pillow Palace” set, part of Design Month at The Pocket Theater. Attendees will be invited to become part of the action as extras, actors, or even puppeteers, but also have the option to just relax as a member of the studio audience.

The FELT-A-THON is a 24 hour puppet marathon charity event broadcast online via live stream. Seattle-based puppeteers Rachel Jackson and Chad Allers, along with other local artists, will attempt to make 12 short puppet videos in only 24 hours. Part of the 2015 World Day of Puppetry, proceeds collected during the 2015 FELT-A-THON will go to Habitat for Humanity – Seattle King County.

Tim’s Tavern, 602 N 105th St., presents Some Kind Of Nightmare (San Diego punk), Suburban Vermin, and Postmartym at 9 p.m. Friday ($6 cover); and Midnight Radio Revival at 9 p.m. Saturday ($5 cover).

Phinney Preschool Co-op’s Gently-Used Kids Clothing & Gear Sale, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Phinney Neighborhood Center, 6532 Phinney Ave. N., with gently-used, name-brand clothing, shoes, toys, books, strollers, bedding, furniture, safety equipment, sports gear, car seats, swimwear, maternity wear and more. Many items are discounted by 50 percent beginning at 12 p.m.

Couth Buzzard Books presents Open Jazz Jam with Kenny Mandell from 2-4:15 p.m. Sunday.

Evan’s Family Variety Show from 3-4:30 p.m. Sunday at the Phinney Center, 6532 Phinney Ave. N.

And a reminder that Route 48 will be rerouted off of NW 85th Street between 1st Avenue NW and 3rd Avenue NW
on Saturday due to construction. Route 48 will travel via 3rd Avenue NW to NW 90th Street, Greenwood Avenue North, North 85th Street, then back to its regular route. Check Metro’s Service Advisories page for updates.
